All donations made to Oceans United are gifts made voluntarily, accepted in good faith and with no conditions to Ocean Saviour USA, dba Oceans United, that has filed for and is expected to receive recognition as a 501(c)(3) charity by the Internal Revenue Service of the United States.


We understand that making a Will is a very personal matter. If you decide to include Oceans United in your Will, or have already done so, please let us know.  As well as helping us plan for the future, it allows us to acknowledge your support personally and to discuss your wishes. Any information you provide is of course confidential.

Should you decide to leave Oceans United a gift in your Will or list Oceans United as a beneficiary, we recommend that you obtain independent and professional legal and financial advice to ensure that your Will is valid and your wishes carried out.

Annuities and Trusts

You can help Oceans United and at the same time receive income for life and the life of your beneficiary. Charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts are both methods of giving that are used by organizations to benefit their programs.

Annuities and trusts are wonderful strategies if you have appreciated assets (typically stocks or property) and you would like to increase your income.  Charitable gift annuities are popular because they provide a fixed income to you for life regardless of the market conditions.

A charitable remainder trust is an irrevocable trust that pays you a percentage of the trust’s value on a regular schedule, and if desired, the lifetime of one beneficiary. Upon the donor’s (or beneficiary’s) death, the principle passes to Oceans United without any estate taxes.

Since a trust is a legal entity, you will need an attorney to draft a trust agreement. You will also need to appoint a trustee to oversee the fund’s investment and distribution of payments. Oceans United can serve as the trustee for qualifying gifts, however, you are always able to select your own trustee.

Tax Receipts

Oceans United will issue a tax receipt to donors from the United States for cash donations of over $250, or for payments of over $75 where goods or services are provided, after the latter of 15 days from the date the donation is processed, and once Oceans United is recognized as a 501(c)(3) by the IRS.

Not all membership fees, facilitator registration fees, paid tickets, and paid reservations are tax deductible. Consult a legal or tax professional for questions regarding tax deductions and IRS requirements.

Donors who request refunds are not eligible for tax deductions on their refunded donations. If a donation is refunded, the associated tax receipt is no longer valid so it should be securely destroyed. If a portion of a donation is refunded, a new tax receipt will be issued for the amount of the corrected donation. Please note it is your responsibility to submit only correct receipts for tax purposes.

Events, Classes, and Challenges

For holders of paid tickets or paid reservations, you may cancel for a full refund up to 72 hours before the date and time of the event. Cancellations between 25-72 hours before the event may be transferred to a different date/time of the same class scheduled within 30 days, if available. Cancellation requests made within 24 hours of the event date/time may not receive a refund nor a transfer.

If an event, class or challenge is postponed or rescheduled, you will be contacted via phone or email with the postponement and new date/time as soon as it available. Unless notified otherwise, your registration or tickets will be valid for the new date/time. If you are unable to make the new date/time, and it is more than 10 days from the originally scheduled date/time, you may contact us for a full refund of your registration fee and/or price of ticket or reservation, less any transaction charges. If the event is 10 days or less from the originally scheduled date, the registration fee and/or price of ticket or reservation is non-refundable.

Facilitator registrations cancelled more than 10 working days before an event, class, or challenge are eligible for a refund of the registration fees paid, less a USD $50 administration charge. No refunds are available for cancellations made within 10 working days of the scheduled date.

Cancellation of Automated Recurring Donation

Ongoing support is important to enabling our work, so we encourage donors to continue to contribute over time. If you must cancel your recurring donation, please notify us immediately. Please allow up to 14 days for cancellation of recurring donation to take effect.

Refunds of Donations

Once you have donated to Oceans United we cannot give refunds if you change your mind. For this reason that we ask that you make your decision to donate to us carefully.

As your donations provided online are made without our assistance or involvement, we ask that you complete your details and the amount of your donation carefully as it involves a substantial amount of administrative time to deal with and rectify any errors.

Oceans United is under no obligation to give a refund for donations, but will attempt to rectify any genuine errors. Any request for refund of contributions already donated to Oceans United by a donor will be considered and determined on a case by case basis.

Applying for a Refund

If you wish to apply for a refund please submit your request by providing your full name, Supporter ID (if known), full mailing address and phone number, details of how you made the donation or payment (including last 4-digits of any credit card number, or the bank name and full routing and account number), the date and amount given or paid, tax receipt number (if available), and the circumstances justifying your request. Upon receipt, we will review your application and respond within 2 business days.
